A Novel Procedure to Measure Membrane Penetration of Coarse Granular Materials

The membrane penetration effect will significantly influence the measurement of specimen volume deformation in triaxial test. This paper presents a novel procedure for measuring and correcting rubber by using newly developed multiscale apparatus. A series tests on coarse granular materials was conducted with different diameters, it is found that proportion change due to decreases linearly increasing diameter. To reduce margin error induced test, recommended use specimens larger size. Such method can facilitate correction estimation materials.
